​The City of Cass Lake held a Truth-n-Taxation hearing on Wednesday December 14, 2022 at 6:00pm at the Cass Lake Municipal Center to discuss the proposed budget and Levy for taxes payable in 2023.
 
Present:  Mayor Herschel Ogema, Councilors David Fineday, Mike Hanson, Carla Jones-Leecy
Sue Uhrinak, City Clerk-Treasurer, Jason Raymond Public Works, Chris Sonmor, Brad Rittgers and Jesse Iverson.
 
Clerk-Treasurer Uhrinak explained the proposed budget that was presented at the November Council meeting that would make the Levy a 5% increase or $16,860 for taxes collected in 2023. 
 
No residents of the City were present to make comments on the proposed levy.  The council agreed that a 5% increase was reasonable considering the cost of everything has gone up and inflation is at over 8%.  Placed motion on the regular agenda to approve Levy for 2023 as presented.
 
Mayor Ogema closed the Truth-n-Taxation Hearing at 6:03pm and returned to the Regular City Council Meeting.
